If you purchased chile peppers at your Meijers store in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky or Ohio, there is a chance you could be in for an extra kick if you don’t heed the warning from the recall notice from the FDA dated, October 21, 2014. Bailey Farms, Inc. of Oxford, North Carolina is voluntarily recalling 6,215 pounds of Fresh Serrano Chile Peppers, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Please, read the official FDA notice for more information.
